Food Additive
Food additives are substances that are not normally consumed as food in themselves, nor are they generally used as characteristic ingredients of a food, whether or not they have nutritional value. Additives can be used to add color to a food, to prolong its shelf life by protecting it against microorganisms or against oxidation, which could cause changes in its organoleptic characteristics. Likewise, the additives can also be used, for example, in flours to improve their quality in the baking process. Alimentómica has a panel of experts specialized in the preparation of official reports requesting the approval of a food additive and how to proceed in the labeling of a product that contains it.
