Feed Additive

Feed additives are products used in animal nutrition to achieve an effect on the feed itself, on animals, on food products obtained from animals consuming the additive, or on the environment. For example, food additives are used to enhance the flavor of foods or to meet the need for certain nutrients.

Prior to marketing, feed additives must be authorized by the EFSA, demonstrating that the additive does not have harmful effects on human and animal health and the environment. EFSA authorizations are valid for 10 years; in principle, after this period a new application must be submitted showing that the additive is still safe under the authorized conditions.

Alimentómica has a panel of experts specializing in the preparation of official reports requesting the approval of feed additives.
