Nutritional Claims
Nutrition claims are those that indicate, suggest or imply that a food has particular beneficial nutritional properties due to:
- the specific energy value.
- its content of certain substances. For example, "low fat," "source of omega-3 fatty acids," or "high fiber."

Declarations of healthy properties or Health claims (HC)
A health claim is any claim used on labels, marketing or advertising of the health benefits associated with the consumption of a particular food or one of its components, such as vitamins and minerals, fiber, polyphenols and other bioactive components, foods and microorganisms. probiotics or postbiotics. For example, a health claim could be claims that a food can help improve learning ability, return to normal muscle function (contraction) after physical exercise, muscle endurance, elasticity of blood vessels, maintenance of normal blood cholesterol levels, etc., and can be called “functional declarations”, “of general function” or, more specifically, those corresponding to article 13 of the Regulation.
Health claims also include claims about reducing the risk of disease, as well as claims indicating that a food or one of its components can improve or modify normal body functions, such as “Sterols have been shown to vegetables reduce cholesterol levels, a risk factor in the development of coronary diseases”.
